UK raises alarm over planned terrorist attacks in US

The United Kingdom (UK) has raised an alarm warning its citizens against travelling to the United States of America, adding that terrorists are planning to attack the US. The UK in a travel advisory issued on Friday advised its citizens in the US to be vigilant and avoid public gatherings, noting that the terrorists might target places where foreigners gather or crowded areas as well as transportation channels. According to the travel advisory, the UK noted that it learnt that the US’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had also warned Americans in New Jersey that terrorists were planning to attack synagogues in the state. Nancy Pelosi's husband attacked

Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was "violently assaulted" after a break-in at the couple's San Francisco home early on Friday. The Democratic Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, who is second in line to the presidency, was not at home at the time of the early morning assault. Her office in a statement said the assailant has been arrested and is in custody, Reuters reports. The circumstances of the attack were unclear, including how the intruder got into the home. "The assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation," the statement said. "Mr. Pelosi was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving excellent medical care and is expected to make a full recovery." U.S warns its citizens in South Africa over terror attacks

The United States has warned its citizens about the possibility of terror attacks in South Africa. The US issued a security alert on Wednesday. In the alert posted on its website, the US Embassy in South Africa said Johannesburg stands a high risk of attack between October 29th and 30th, 2022. Johannesburg is the country’s biggest megacity and chief industrial and financial metropolis. It advised Americans in the city to avoid all non-essential travel or movement, stay alert, avoid crowds, and follow local news and the advice of security authorities. “The U.S. government has received information that terrorists may be planning to conduct an attack targeting large gatherings of people at an unspecified location in the greater Sandton area of Johannesburg, South Africa, on 29 October 2022,” the advisory read. “There is no further information regarding the timing, method, or target of the potential attack. CBN to launch redesign N200, N500 and N1,000 notes

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced its plan to redesign some naira notes. The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, who disclosed this while addressing journalists on Wednesday, said the new design and issues will be effective from December 2022. He advised Nigerians to take old notes to banks for the new notes. According to Emefiele, the new notes include N200, N500 and N1000. The CBN under Emefiele had been lately accused of corruption, policy somersault and failure to address the most fundamental fiscal challenges of the country. Armed Fulani militia arrested for chopping off a Farmer's hand in FCT

A Fulani herdsman, Bagudu Usman has chopped off the hand of a farmer in Rimba village, Abaji Local Government Area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The victim was identified as Kefas Luka. The herdsman was said to have led his cattle to Luka’s farm leading to disagreement between the duo. Usman thereafter attacked the farmer and cut off his hand. The General Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman has been accused of not visiting the relatives of his police escorts who were killed on Friday in Edo State. SaharaReporters earlier reported how some gunmen on Friday attacked the convoy of Suleman, killing seven persons including three police escorts. The incident occurred on Warake Road, close to Auchi, Edo State.
